Designer Mission: The Central Park Zoo and Networking in a Yurt

When I last wrote about my upcoming excursions, I wasn’t sure what to expect. In August, I ended up visiting the Central Park Zoo with my son and some friends. We enjoyed meandering around the property and visiting the animals. We walked a lot that day, so I found a bench to rest and reflect while the boys ate some sugary treats. This bench was really inviting and I took a picture of it. I loved that it didn’t say who it was from like some of the others.
I wish I could tell you I had some epiphany sitting there, but it was just really nice to people watch, hear different languages from tourists and know what a privilege it is to be in New York City with my son. I was grateful for that moment.
September brought me back into the city twice more, once to visit a client, Figure Skating in Harlem. They’re a great non-profit whose aim is to transform young lives and help girls to grow in confidence, leadership and academic achievement. Afterward, I stopped at The Metropolitan Opera to say hello to some colleagues.

Here I am on the rooftop in front of the yurt.

The next time I visited NYC was to network in a yurt. The event was held on a rooftop over on 11th Ave in the Hell’s Kitchen district. Sounds quirky, but it was fun and I was open to the possibilities. I met some interesting people and learned a little more about the Kalmyk culture.
Stay tuned for more adventures in the Big Apple. It never disappoints!

Welcome!
